Every year for the past four years I’ve had the honour of performing at the Beach Celtic Festival in Kew Gardens in Toronto’s Beach area!
This is the 7th annual and was started by my sister Sandy and her husband Charles Robertson to pay homage to our mother Jemima Sutherland Graham, who passed away in 2001.

Recently I interviewed Don Graham by telephone and he was gracious enough to answer the following questions and many more that I have edited from this article. The Toronto Tunesmith Graham is leaving at the end of July to tour with Texas Troubadour Larry Patton in Norway, Ireland, and Austria.
 
 
KB:  Tell me a little bit about yourself – how does a guy from Montreal, Quebec end up in country music?

On June 15, 2010 Don Graham officially signed on with Keith Bradford Promotions for U.S. representation of his new CD, “A Willing Heart.” Bradford who is a 45 year music veteran, has launched Don’s CD to over 5000 radio stations, music industry contacts, and retail outlets. Initial response has been overwhelming and EMG (Entertainment Music Group) a company with offices in Toronto, Canada and Nashville, TN has already booked a tour in Norway for July. Don and music icon Larry Patton will depart for this tour on July 20, 2010 and will make stops in Scotland and Ireland.

It’s been a couple of weeks now since the Cashbox Magazine Mothers Day Showcase on May 9th, 2010. It was a great trip and an amazing event featuring some really fine talent and some truly wonderful new friends were made. Whoever said “getting there was half the fun” perhaps should have rephrased it “SOMETIMES getting there is half the fun.” I won’t go into details but suffice to say that because we booked late due to the uncertainty of the date we ended up getting flights that took us the long way around! Fourteen hours of travelling for a two hour direct flight.

Canadian Singer/Songwriter releases New CD with debut performance at the legendary Nashville Palace in Nashville (Music City) Tennessee.
Don Graham, Montreal born and Toronto based country rock singer has released his new CD ‘A Willing Heart’ on Breakin’ Records – It’s What We Do. This 11 track CD was recorded in Montreal, Quebec and produced by Chestnut Tree Production’s by Bill Hill and Andrew Hill. Graham is established in the music industry, both as a performer and songwriter, and this CD is a reflection of his personal experiences that all can relate to at one time in our lives.

It’s been an exciting week with airplay on Got What It Takes and an exciting development on the live performing front.

First the airplay; the ON air debut of our single ‘Got What It Takes’ was on CKYC, Country 93 in Owen Sound, Ontario. A clip is featured below so give a listen. A big thank you goes out to Bob Bannister and Donna Henry of that station for featuring us on their “What’s New”show on Saturday and Monday nights.

Is this art imitating life or art winking at life? The first line of our new single Got What It Takes is “You won’t see me on the cover of a magazine”….. and here I am on the cover of the latest issue of Cashbox Canada magazine!

It’s quite a thrill to be on the cover of ANY magazine but it’s especially thrilling for me that it’s Cashbox! Our first record, Shelter In the Sky, ironically, produced by the same producer, Bill Hill, was a “pick hit” in Cashbox back in the seventies! And we’re all still here, still making music! And Cashbox is still covering it!
