ART WINKING AT LIFE

Cashbox Cover

Is this art imitating life or art winking at life? The first line of our new single Got What It Takes is “You won’t see me on the cover of a magazine”….. and here I am on the cover of the latest issue of Cashbox Canada magazine!

It’s quite a thrill to be on the cover of ANY magazine but it’s especially thrilling for me that it’s Cashbox! Our first record, Shelter In the Sky, ironically, produced by the same producer, Bill Hill, was a “pick hit” in Cashbox back in the seventies! And we’re all still here, still making music! And Cashbox is still covering it!

The single, Got What It Takes, hits radio today, Monday, April 12th. For a recording artist and songwriter, this is akin to sending your kid to school for the first time. You’ve worked hard raising him, done your best to shape him, all your family and friends like him and are nice to him. Your producer, musicians and promoters, involved in your music, are like his aunts and uncles. Now he’s going out into the world of strangers! You’re a little nervous that it all goes well for him, and for the most part, at the end of the day, your child assimilates and fits well into the rough and ready real world and makes his way on his own merit! You hope the same for your songs!

Thanks for stopping by. I’m going to listen to this CD again to see what other lines meet become “ art winking at life” . Could be fun!!!
See you out there!!!
