A Beacher Feature At The Beacher

The Beacher Cafe

On Thursday May 13th, we got to have a CD party at my favourite restaurant in my neighbourhood, The Beach, in the east end of Toronto.

Having just returned from Nashville, Tennessee where we did a couple of sets at The Nashville Palace (more on this exciting opportunity later)I was a little tired but also really jacked about presenting ourselves in the neighbourhood. We had gotten a great review in the local paper, The Beach Metro News by Bill Maclean, so we knew we were going into a friendly venue. The turnout was amazing considering it was a cold and rainy Thursday night in May. Old friends and new turned out to lend their support and I was truly grateful for that. Aside from the EMG crew of Sandy Graham, Rosemary Learn and Natasha Slinko, many important people in my life were there as well. My nephews Graham and Ian and their dad Charles Robertson, Bonnie MacGregor and her companion Phil, Kelly Lee Ferguson and her parents, Cashbox writer Ron Bennison, the Beach mainstay Paris Quinn, the Beach Celtic cornerstone Lorraine Theed and friends, the lovely Zita DaSilva who cuts my hair and is a wonderful friend and many more.

It was a casual night and a small room so we decided to go unplugged, literally, with no P.A. and amps; just me and my guitar. I figured if you couldn’t hear me I’d walk to your table and sing to you. It worked and I shamelessly plugged the new CD and sold a few.

All in all, it was a fun night and left me with an even greater appreciation of my friends, family and neighbourhood.

Thanks for listening and we’ll see you out there!
