The Brotherhood of Musicians

The bond that’s formed between musicians, entertainers and singer/songwriters is a pretty incredible thing to witness. I’ve had talks with pro athletes, football players, hockey players, who say that the unity formed with teammates can last a lifetime. Music people experience much the same bonding. There is the dark humour, almost like locker room humour in the music fraternity, going to see another band in a club setting and saying things like ”Play the one you know!’ and other good natured jabs were commonplace in the old club days. But if an outsider dared to say anything derogatory about a friend of yours or his band you jumped to defend him.

Later on, as records were recorded and tours developed and careers ramped up, conflicting schedules would make it so you didn’t see your buddies as often but when you did it was like no time had passed and stories of the road were tossed back and forth with ease. “See you out there!” was the parting phrase de jour. The reason I’m writing this now is I recently applied for funding to record and part of the requirements was quotes of endorsement from music people of influence.

The result of our request from friends and fellow musicians, which appears below, reinforced my theory but also warmed my heart! THANK YOU to all my friends for the oh so kind and thoughtful words!

N’OUBLIE JAMAIS! I WON’T FORGET!

I've known DON GRAHAM since 1973, and he is a fine songwriter, whose most recent recording is first-rate. I strongly support his application - the resulting recording will make us proud.

I met Don Graham at the Nashville Palace in Nashville, TN.  After his performance his sister Sandy Graham gave me a CD of Don's and asked if I could get it out to my musical contacts.  Within days Don's CD was embraced by radio worldwide and continues to be played consecutively in rotation.  This is an artist with the goods in my opinion.
