End of summer, time to wrap it up and move on to the next phase!!
Did you all miss me? Guess I haven’t written here for a while, reason being I‘ve just been too busy. But now summer is over and we put our snow tires on and get ready for the fall winter season at Don Graham Music!
Summer was fun, busy, and productive and filled with lots of good things and a few surprises. Spent time in Norway and Austria playing some fun gigs, the highlight of which was at the home of Norwegian Frank Holte at his annual Hilltop Barn Festival. Did the night alongside Larry Patton and we were backed by great Dallas native Joe Degelia on guitar. We played all night and had a great time! Wonderful folks those Norwegians!
I want to thank an incredible guy and new friend Atle, who put us up at his home in Norway. Made some great friends and can’t wait to go back!
In Austria we stayed with old friend, Guenther Weswaldi who is the best host you’ll ever meet. Graz, Austria was beautiful, historic and a place I would love to go back to someday.
September I performed my annual gig at The Beach Celtic Festival with the great Hugo Straney and got to play along Irish sensation Linda Welby. We backed her up and a strong friendship and musical bond was formed. Looking forward to dates with Linda in the future! Well, not DATES per say, she is married!!!
On the recording front, our CD ‘A Willing Heart’ is proving it still has legs and continues to get added on stations around the world.
A lot of the time has been spent writing the new CD, which we are about to go into pre-production soon. So far we have about twenty new tunes that in the coming months will have to be pared down to the magic eleven.
We’re also working on a radio show for the Nashville Broadcasting Radio Network. This will be fun and feature the music we grew up musically with; Poco, Buffalo Springfield, New Riders of the Purple Sage and the other true pioneers of country rock as well as some of the old standards Hank, Johnny Hartford and others.
The cool thing is I get to do this show with my sister Sandy Graham, a Canadian Radio legend in her own right! With Sandy at the helm of this venture it’s sure to be a winner. She has great ears and I run most of my own new stuff by her before I pass it on to anyone else.
We’re getting ready for a close to 2010 and a great start to 2011!
And once again THANKS FOR LISTENING and we’ll see you out there !!!
